Anka Bergman and her family have been captured by German’s policy as Czech’s citizien and sent into a lagier near Theresienstadt. She wasn’t a member of any group of opposition movement. On the contrary, she (firstly) wanted meeting with men, watched films and generally all aspects of light live. Secondly, in 1939, Germany invaded Prague and the woman’s whole life has changed. Anka had borned a daughter – Eva. In 1942, her daughter had been killed by Germans in their death camp. In the camp Germans introduced separation of men and women, but Anka became pregnant. She had borned a boy, but in the case of children boring Germans robbed the children and sent to German families or state’s children homes. A borned boy died due to infection of lung. Anka became pregnant again. The father of Eva was shot at the next German camp, at Auschwitz, on some months before escaping German forces from Auschwitz. Anka was evacuated to next German camp, namely in Mauthausen. Before ending the Second World War, Germans closed killing people with using of gas. Anka and her dughter have survived. Now they live together in Cambridge and tell their life story.

ReplyDeleteThat time was also bad for my familly too. My grandfather took part in The First World War. I remember as he told us about horses. Those animals were scaring of fight. It was very diffcult hor him to calm down the horse. They probably knew what could have happened to them during the fight. No more fight !
